FAQs

HOW DO I DO A PATCH TEST?

  • Place a small amount of the product on your inner forearm.
  • Apply a sterile dressing and keep the area dry during the test.
  • If you feel the onset of any irritation or if any reaction occurs immediately remove the bandage and wash the area with mild soap and water.
  • If no irritation occurs within 48 hours the product should be safe for you to use. However there is no guarantee that you will not develop irritation or allergy to an essential oil over time.
  • Even if a particular essential oil does not irritate you be aware that it could still pose problems for someone else.
  • Also keep in mind that if you are allergic to a particular plant you are more likely to be allergic to that botanicals essential oil.

WHY IS MY LOTION GRITTY?

    • The base of our lotions is made up of some or all of the following, depending on the product: Shea butter, Coconut oil, Olive oil, Olive wax, and Mango butter. These natural ingredients have different melting and setting points, and when they soften and then set again (highly likely given the recent heatwaves we've been having), the fat molecules in the product can crystallise.
    • This doesn’t affect the efficacy of the product in any way, and when massaged into your skin, the heat from your body should melt the ‘bits’ away.
    • To avoid this happening, we could use chemical stabilisers, but that is not something we or from what you tell us, yourselves, would be happy with.
    • We do all we can during production to prevent the chances of it happening, by heating, cooling and whipping the product properly. Unfortunately, once the product has left us we have no control over how it is kept.
