YUKA

When we attended the Allergy & Free From Show at the NEC, I struck up a conversation with a customer.
At first, I thought he was testing me, asking detailed questions about every product and ingredient. Eventually, he admitted he was impressed with my knowledge. I explained that we make the products using my own recipes so it’s only natural I know them inside out. He remarked that this wasn’t always the case, as some companies can be quite misleading about their ingredients.
He then went on to tell me about an app that he uses , YUKA
A totally free, independent app that lets you scan the barcode of food and cosmetic products, then gives them a score out of 100, pointing out the positives and negatives. For example, the Kombucha scores 50/100, while the sunscreen (which was being given away for free at the show) gets a score of 0/100!

The Kombucha gets a score of 50/100,
pointing out that the only negative is the calorie content

The sunscreen scored 0/100! A score that the gentleman told me he had never seen before!
You can see for yourself that there are no positives to this product.
I immediately downloaded the app and found it incredibly addictive—you’ll want to scan everything! Some of the results from products in my cupboards were quite surprising. Unfortunately, For the Love of Earth products can’t be scanned as they don’t have barcodes, but I’m looking into how we can work around that.
